all pieces of silk from my friend christy who is a forever inspiration. spent yesterday listening to podcasts and sewing after doing some home repair. a nice treat to sit still and find creativity. - the Daily, Missing in Alaska and playing Catan with the family.
love is a wild thing.
(kacey musgraves.) this stocking will be wild and full of life. blessings, gratitude, creativity. and i’m starting it over again. after a long break. and it’s not the design from the previous post. fresh, better, more inspired. colorful and optimistic. (climbing over fences, moving in the shadows, places that you can’t see.)
quarantine weekend.
starting a new project. coronavirus has escalated, and glad to have an indoor hobby in addition to the #stupidhobby of running a lot. also getting on the peloton, and home officing.
almost done.
feeling good, maybe one more layer above the pink.
acknowledge the space.
and then fill it with something. little pockets of beautiful!
breathe.
when i started this one, wasn’t sure how to make it work. just played for a while. but loving it more over time and seeing the pieces coming together, this one has opportunity.
thread the needle.
sometimes you just keep threading the needle and stringing the beads. i do love the creative escape. listening to 11.22.63, stephen king. super captivating.
feels good.
have been deliberate about setting aside time at night and on weekends to advance this one. helps takes the mind out of other things. maybe creativity disables anxiety. for me. seems like they aren’t able to coexist in the same moment. nearly ready to start a new segment and re-roll the canvas upward. ha. feels good.
a little creative time.
aw geez. it’s been a while. needed creative time - freedom of mind. made it a priority and set out some new colors and sizes,. pushed back into a healthy space and it feels great. filling in some blanks on the canvas and will create new ones. doing lots of running. lots of peloton. time with my girls. good things.
Moving up and on.
New colors. New blocks. New motion - in lots of ways! Running the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 13th. I’m ready. So many miles. This will be my 10th Chicago, and just love the city. Have stockpiled energy for work and the marathon in the last few months, and now it’s time to be creative again since we’re in the taper. I like the way this one is coming together!
Color blocks.
no idea where this one is going.. that’s okay. probably more color blocks. have lots of beads to fill in blocks. mostly wondering if it needs a centerpiece bead or something or if the blocks are enough. time.
all right then.
so this is coming together and getting more fun. is that the creative process? just keep going and it appears? i filled in between the spaces and putting some patterns in the spaces. i used some leftover blue beads from the last project in the turquoise space and actually, like the outcome.
i dunno.
totally unsure where this going. running a lot. thinking about it. watching chernobyl. what the heck is that.
New. No idea.
so it’s new and i liked the shaped in the blue bead with the rectangles. mirroring that and we’ll see where it goes. those wood beads are cool, too, though, right? another day, another project.
and she's done.
i love her. she looks great and it was super fun. I’ll finish her up this week with backing and lining, and start thinking about the next project. sometimes unsure if a new design should be abstract or recognizable. the abstract is free and i’m less judgy about the outcome. so probably abstract.
soooo close! almost done.
just love this project. what happens when i finish! gonna need new inspiration. beadshow in denver on april 28th. have the day planned, and can’t wait.
yellow stripe!
you might wonder…how excited can one be over a yellow stripe? and the answer will surprise you. isn’t it awesome?!? a thin line is exactly what this needed to brighten it up, add interest and tie in the yellow up top. plus it makes me feel creative and smart to have thought of it, which hey…it’s a yellow stripe. ha ha. take it where you can get it!
so much more.
still loving this. went last weekend to purchase a few more highlight beads (don’t have stock on the larger ones and they add interest, i think) and have planned out a few sections with pen as you can see. lady at the bead store had an idea to use some chain, which sounded super cool so i bought that, and will overlay it once some of the sections are filled. feei like i’m mostly in a positive creative space so still really enjoying this project.
All the things.
just really still having fun with this one. so easy to enjoy - easy to pick colors, patterns, loving the overlapping beads. i’ll put some colors over the red section so it’s likely this large section will be relatively flat with some patterns on top.
Look at what I'm doing!
I’m having so much fun on this one! Honestly. So great. New techniques with layering - probably should have experimented with new techniques beyond couching a long time ago but whatever. Love the color restrictions based on the boiled wool header. It’s helpful to have some framework. But the rest of the design has no rules and that’s super awesome. I’m just having a ton of fun planning and working on this one.
The turquoise lines will outline what I hope will be a river of beads. Thinking I’ll do some of the dark green right above it and let those strands feather onto the river of blue and up into the purple above. Loving the gold circles. Tried to make them stand out but fit in for a cool variation. Used a purple holding bead in the middle that was shiny - not opaque - thought opacity would make it too loud.
And the red. Loving it. All the texture. Yes!
