I love beads and sewing (and running and eating and friends and fall and other things, too, but this site is about creating!) I have loved beads and sewing for years.
In 8th grade, the Home Economics teacher taught us to cross-stitch and I never stopped.
I've sewn lots of things from clothes to purses, but Christmas stockings are what I like the most. Who knows why. Maybe it's because it's fun to bring them out only once a year and it's enjoyable to see memories with each one. For many years, I sewed only holiday-themed cross-stitch patterns.
Then, I received a journal with pockets in it as a gift (pictured above.) The pockets are clear and you can collect and display things in the pockets! I began to collect things I liked and sketch out original ideas. Time to create on my own!
I'll never go back to patterns, because there are too many other things I'd like to sew. Too many scraps of fabric, little found items, and other fun things to imagine. And, I'm not stuck on holiday themes anymore. The only rules are to have fun.
